Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara Ven. Namalwewa Rathnasara Thero was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on an arrest warrant today, police sources said.

The arrest warrant was issued by the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Darshika Vimalasuriya ordered on August 12 to immediately arrest the chief incumbent of the Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara on a repeated sexual abuse charge involving a 13-year-old girl.

Looks like he was trying to run away from the country with blessings of some politician instead of facing charges for the crime committed It is a grave sin to commit such heinous crimes whilst one is clad with a religious robe.
