President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in London to attend the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Presidential Spokesman Bandula Jayasekara said. Britain gears up for four-day long celebrations from June 2-5 to mark the 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

Hi dalu banda, It was never our intension to migrate if not for the way you all treated us. There is no better place than the motherland. But then you repeatedly made it impossible to live in the beautiful country beginning 1958. Chandrika aplogized for the deeds in 1983. What happened subsequently. Comments like vulgur and dirty immigrants is uncalled for.

All commonwealth head of States were officially invited for some of the Queens diamond jubilee celebrations. Most likely MR would attend the service of 'Thanksgiving" at St Pauls Cathedral & the official dinner or lunch for Commonwealth heads of governments.

@ AJ:
Mahinda is President of SL. Some people may like him some not. Same goes for the HM the Queen. And that is democracy.
Check your facts, invitation is by Buck Palace because this is not a commonwealth event.
You can Protest because if UK deport you lot, your family got affected...nothing else.
btw : he is Mahinda...not "mahintha"

What we should understand is that the authorities in the West do not mix-up matters. The President is invited by the Commonwealth Secretariat, which is hosting the event, as Sri Lanka in a Member of the Commonwealth Organisation. The Queen or the British Govt. does not interfere in the matter. This the manner in which the different institutions function in the West. This is a lesson that Sri Lanka also should learn.

What is wrong here is MR taking the aircraft from Srilankan Airlines. They have already made a loss of Rs 17 billion and the Government is taking a loan of US $500 million and still he travels around the world in luxury. He travels with his Jim band with tax payers money. I have seen the PM of Singapore travling in a normal flight from Singapore to Japan. He could have taken a special flight from Singapore airline.
