How about inviting Qaddafi? Cricket will be a good excuse for escape for him. Another reason is that the General will bring his extra tents, chairs, harem as he does on most travel, and most importantly, the petro- dolar$ with him.

NZ knows that SL has a better cricket team & are likely to win, so the NZ PM may not be really interested in accepting the invitation.

With out politics none of these can be achieved. Look what happened to Zimbabwe, Kenya. Those countries lack the political will for the sports. After all we need money and infrastructure to play.
It was President Premadasa who built the Stadium (In a swamp if i'm correct) where we played our quarters. He had the vision for the future of cricket. We should be grateful to him. I think politicians have the rights to come and watch matches.

Must be thinking that other world leaders have nothing better to do than waste time watching a cricket match. This clearly shows how jobless we are.Manmohan Singh invited the Pakistani leadership as a diplomatic effort.Besides they can just hop across the border.

Pawlpakse Sunday, 27 March 2011 10:04 AM
No. I think it is the reality. Our friends are Libya, Iran, Myanma, China, Pakistan etc where it is known to have poor human rights record. Some of these countries are the main investors of on going infrastructure projects in SL. Those investments must be having lots of strings attached not known to the public.

Now its preety clear that MR's and this governments future rests on the outcome of the world cup, atleast for the next few months. When SF won the war for them , they played this card for 2 years and jailed the arhitect. If SL criketers loose they will be charged with match fixing... All good done by hero's will be forgotten by these goons...

NZ Prime Minister is very busy visiting Earth quake damaged South all the time and rebuilding and helping people . i don't think he is selfish as our leaders to enjoy cricket while his people are suffering. Third world leaders don't understand this mentality... obviously..
It's the time our leaders learn from those leaders to treat your country people respectfully.
