Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said that currently there is no risk of a flood situation developing in any part of the country due to the prevalent rains and requested the public to refrain from panicking.
“There is no risk of a flood situation developing in any part of the country at the moment. However, the DMC is prepared for any emergency disaster situation,” DMC Assistant Director Pradeep Kodippili. He said that at present, the spill gates of Kala Wewa, Rajanganaya and Inginimitiya reservoirs have been opened. “But there is no need to assume a flood situation over the opening of spill gates because they are usually opened for daily maintenance purposes as well,” he added.
