The global fuel price hike triggered by civil unrest in the Middle East would not have any impact on local fuel prices, Petroleum Minister Susil Premajayantha has said.
Minister Premajayantha told Daily Mirror that the country had fuel stocks required for one month, and stocks required for another half a month period had been ordered.
“We have made these purchases according to the previous price ranges. Therefore, the present price hike will hardly have any effect on the domestic market. We can expect a surge in fuel prices in the global market whenever there is any kind of unrest or civil disturbance in the Middle- East,” he said.
“The price of refined diesel oil is now at US $ 121 a barrel,” he said. (Kelum Bandara)
