All the liquor shops in the country would be closed on July 29, in view of the Ramadan Festival, the Commissioner General of Department of Excise office said today.

This is the day open liquor shops and bars those serving liquor in the Hotels in the middle east after the long break of Ramadan. Sri Lankan authorities seems unaware of the Islamic values as they should have closed all the shops during Ramadan.

Its time this holier than thou attitude stopped. Are they trying to increase the sale of liquor by banning its sale on poya and other festival days? Maybe if they did not ban there would be less sales the day before or on that day.
