No one to bail out Kondaya

The Gampaha Magistrate’s Court today ordered that Dunesh Priyashantha alias Kondaya remain in custody as no one had come forward to bail him out.

Magistrate Tikirige Jayathilake ordered the suspect be remanded at Mahara Prison.

Kondaya was released on bail by the Magistrate today after charges of unauthorized entry to a residence and assault charges.

The Magistrate ordered the suspect be released on two sureties of Rs.50, 000 each. (Tony Karunanayake)

This is criminal justice. If the perpetrator has in the end found not connected to the crime, it is the duty of judge to release without any condition, after these are very poor people and where can they find someone to grant bail even for Rs. 1,000.00. Damn shameless systems.

We should have a electronic tag system (only for notorious suspects). Therefore, can grand bail and tracking them would be very easy in case if they do not appear in courts.

why is he a suspect still when his brother have confessed and got DNA matched?why shall he pay when the police have mistakenly captured him ?Police must be forced to pay some compensation for this fellow. poor fellow .50,000 must be a fortune for his family when we find it difficult to save even a penny with our monthly salaries
