Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that ‘there is no reason yet’ for him to enter the present parliament, although many members have offered their seats in order to make way for his entry.
Mr. Rajapaksa made these remarks after a meeting with lawyers at the Narahenpita Abhayaramaya on last night.
He also said the current government was on a media blitz, by questioning his staff members among whom were senior citizens.
“This government has nothing better to do and are questioning and intimidating my former staff members. These include those above 60 years and they walk out of these questionings in tears,” he said.
Many officials who held top posts during the Rajapaksa regime, including former Treasury Secretary P.B Jayasundara, former Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunga and Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Cabraal were questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
“It’s good for media as well because it has one news in the morning and by evening there is another. They seem to be enjoying it,” the former President said.(Indika Sri Aravinda)

I do.nt understand why journalists do not ask him about some particular wrong doings he or his regime people have done in the recent past. For.eg.about what wrong things he had done 3 months ago during election campaign. Then public will see his response and realize that - a wolf in sheep hide.I do not understand why journalists and others still fear him.He is nothing more than an ordinary citizen but living at our expense. With this media show he is given unnecessary admiration and wrong publicity to him.

Do you mean senior citizens are above the law and they should be venerated although they have looted enormously and led the country into abyss in connivance with your blatant and brazen presidential immunity that is tantamount to your blunders ?So you and your gang is answerable as you tortured almost everybody mentally and physically.

Thank God for small mercies! Wonder why this man still wants to get back into the Parliament. It is just like a boy who has already graduated wanting to sit for the Grade Five scholarship.

The gumption and his ability to twist things to get sympathy. What about all those others under 60 questioned. In any case those who did these things in their sixties and should have known better.

Ha ha! The clown is unstoppable! He had no qualms in having aged grandmothers harassed when he had power. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, he has the gall to complain! Only imbeciles will take him seriously.

He is in a desperate situation now........... he lost billions of earnings, wealth, reputation etc in hours. A person of this calibre who lived in luxury cannot bear such loss. When Chandrika and JR left after their terms, at least they stayed respectfully. But look at him. He wants to prove that he is still in the political scene. In Sri Lanka politicians are not for people even and no difference in other Asian countries. All are in the same boat....No existence of politicians who could actually serve to people...the disappeared decades ago.

Sir, you think without your leadership our country cannit move forward. Cant you see democracy in the country. Press has the freedom now. There is no white vans. During your 10 year leadership how many well known journailsts were killed. You treated Sarath Fonseka like a criminal. I have no soft corner for you. Go and check your brain now.
