The Police are to strictly implement the law against animal cruelty which include regulations for the slaughter of cows under twelve years of age.
According to the prevalent law in the island no cows below the age of twelve can be slaughtered for meat. All licensed and unlicensed slaughter houses will be strictly monitored to ensure that the law is adhered to, the Police said.

typical mentality of the majority. If you are importing Beef that means the cattle had been killed somewhere else in the world.

Flesh eating is an art and a ritual which is practiced all over the world.
There are equal numbers, or more non-flesh eaters in world right now.
Its only a matter of choice between what you want and not what you need.
Its now a globally accepted fact that non-flesh eating is a healthier lifestyle.

Did you know that 99% of drums beaten at all religious activities are made of cow skin?.. and the best part is if the cow is not killed in a specific manner by draining all his blood then the skin is not suitable to be used in drums

Did you know that 90% of the drums that are beaten at religious ceremonies are made of this Animals Skin????... and in order to get the skin one has to ensure that the animal is killed in a specific manner.... by draining all the blood out....

People should not be eating meat from a cow that is more than 30 months old - that is the regulation in Europe because beyond this age, they begin to harbour various deseases that could be transmitted to humans. In Europe every cow carries with it an identity tag which shows its pedigree. Cows could only be slaughtered in a licensed abbattoir and there an inspector checks these tags and ensures the carcase is free from desease before approving it for consumption.

The different planets are at different distances from the sun. Life appeared on the one which was at the ideal distance and not on others. It continues to be at that distance because the gravitational force between the earth and the sun equals the centrifugal force which tries to pull the earth away from the sun.Simple as that. God had nothing to do with it. Only stupid people think that it was god who did it

Make maximum age limit for all the animal slaughtered or killed for eating. Fish can range 1 day to 10 years (like whale), Chicken (50 days to 60 days), Goat and Cow 2 to 5 years, Pig No age limit (because the are not innocent). and don't forget to issue them birth certificate.

What impractical talk is this ? Duplicity at its highest level. When you kill, you take a life, correct ? Accepted, whether for food, or purpose of hygiene (cockroaches, mosquitoes, rats, lizards), safety from predators (poisonous snakes, rabid cats and dogs) , safety from spread of disease (SARS, Hoofs and Mouths), animals gone out of control, or to protect one self (elephants), . Etc., etc. There could be a thousand reasons to kill. Then what about mercy killing (fallen horse), and what is culling? What happens when a parasite is living off the life of another weaker animal, why do you have to kill bacteria? Destroy thousands of chicken in farm for protection from SARS virus, including cattle for Hoofs and Mouths disease ? As usual, talk without thinking. A blanket cover for all killings. Buddhist philosophy. Don’t do as I do, but only as I say. I only eat meat, but I don’t kill, I let someone else do the killing. What hypocrisy?

good start...the authorities must come up with more and more laws and finally a complete ban to slaughter cattle. Import beef for people who enjoys beef. A cow cannot be compared with other animals anyways killing another living being is a sin...they too feel the fear and pain...

For Whatever Reason given whatever method applied to ensure a painless death, as certain religions require it, slaughter is a slaughter, end of life for that being against its wishes.
Humans must take it with the same seriousness as considering a death of a beloved, just because the animals are dumb, it does not mean that are at our mercy and their lives are at our disposal!
Humans are too selfish to accept this fact!

how come cow became special. look at broiler chicken which you ate last night was only 42days old, which is an infant. don't you feel anything special on that.
In general whether it is beef, fish or chicken; consumption is upto the final consumer and making it available is the business peoples job. why get the things complicated.

I think that the method by which animals are slaughtered should be regulated rather than the age of the animal. Animals are tortured before death to keep the meat tender.
