Colombo additional Magistrate today ordered the SSP of Kelaniya Division to disperse the ‘unlawful assembly’ of the Kelaniya University students who have been stationed within the Kelaniya University with an object of causing damage to the university property.

The magistrate being satisfied with the submission and the evidence of the witness ruled the Kelaniya university students have caused a breach of peace and ordered the SSP of Kelaniya Division to disperse the unlawful assembly. (TFT)

The tension is rising and spreading to all universities, rather than having a discussion with student councils, and addressing their problem, taking rash decisions will no way reflect a good image of the minister concern.

Threatening and attacking is not the way to handle student problems. If government resort to such barbaric methods, it will not be a solution but will lead to very unfortunate events as we have experience in the past.

In other countries university students are always busy...studying or workingon part time jobs to pay for living and tuition... but, these fools get everything from government of from their parents and doing these nonsense...!

If these fools put their time to study at least English... they could become somebody...! What a waste of their time...!

A very strong stance must be taken against university students who try their nonsense in future ... we as citizen dislike seeing our tax money being wasted on hooligans who want to waste their time/our money and not seriously study in university ... kick them out and give these opportunities to more deserving kids. The government must become absolutely iron fisted about this, and have a no nonsense policy. Enough is enough!
