Withana Hewage Maduri Yashoda of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo has received the best results in the GCE O/L examination last year, the Examination Department announced.

Rizan Mohammed Athif of Maliyadeva Boys National School in Kurunegala has come second while Sathsarani Amaya of Eheliyagoda Maha Vidyalaya was placed third. (LP)

Counting on O/L result is useless if you can't go through A/L. Dear student, my advice is don't think about O/L much but focus on A/L that is the tough game.

It is believed that the marking standards have been reduced this year where A≥65 marks while S≥18 marks. Would appreciate if this is confirmed by any readers. If true, then the quantity and standard of the O'level pass outs this year is questionable. Further more it is not fair for students who sat for these exams and scored above ≥80 marks to get a A.
