O/L results of over 10,000 withheld

The 2010 GCE O/L results of over 10,000 candidates who sat for the examination by producing postal identity cards have been withheld by the Examinations Department, sources said.

Although the students were permitted to sit for the examination through producing the postal identity card due to the lack of a National Identity Card (NIC), their results have been withheld until proof of identity is submitted through a copy of their NIC.

According to Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) General Secretary Joseph Stalin most candidates among whose results have been withheld include students from Nuwara Eliya district and candidates from the resettled areas in the North. (Lakna Paranamanna)
