One of the four albino turtles brought from the Kosgoda turtle hatchery to the Dehiwela Zoo was found dead last night, a Zoo official said.

He said two of the smaller turtles including the one which died last night were in poor health and from the time they were brought to the Zoo had refused whatever food that was served.

Not a surprise!!! Wonder if the hatchery owner was hiding the turtles from the death of the zoological gardens!!!

I saw a caretaker at the private hatchery kissing the turtles, bidding them farewell. For government servants in the zoo, it was just a matter of routine duty. But for private caretakers it was a matter of co-existence and mutual survival. Even the judges will be judged on the day of judgement!

This is not thew first time that animals got killed at the zoo. For heavens sake hand over the remaining turtles back to the hatchery keeper, who I am sure will take good care of them.

Suspects die under mysterious circumstances in police custody. Looks like albino turtles are not spared too under this regime.
