Parliament sessions were adjourned for 20 minutes a short while ago following a special statement made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremeisnghe on the reinstatement of former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake

The Prime Minister said Dr. Bandaranayake was reinstated as 43rd Chief Justice in accordance with the proper proceedings.

Mr. Wickremeisnghe also revealed that if the government retained Mohan Peiris as Chief Justice, he could have sent all former government members to the Jail.

The Premier pointed out Mohan Peiris had said he was ready to give judgments in favour of the government.

During the statement, several opposition MPs including MP Wimal Weerawansa were seen disturbing Parliament

Sad that people like Dinesh G behave in this manner even Nimal S de, the then opposition were never given a chance to voice their opinion and total dictatorship prevailed. Mohan P was never CJ material and never had a spine to stand up for justice.
