As far as I know, pesticides are used to rid pests. In that context, it has been served in the right place. Our politicians are the pest of our society!

Who ate the cooked Kohila? destroyed? if destroyed it is a waste. if given to somebody to eat it is not wrong. The house must have adequate control procedure. The MPs and the ministers are special and different from the ordinary people who eats eats vegetable available in the market that includes pesticide.

A Chemist Sunday, 18 November 2012 05:10 AM
As a chemist, I'm wondering how they identified arsenic or any other chemical so quickly. Even with state-of-art techniques, identification of chemicals take hours, if not days. On the other hand, how they know it is a pesticide if it is not identified? I believe that most of Sri Lankan foods are contaminate with pesticide, but it should be confirmed through proper scientific studies. And it should not be handled by people who don't have any scientific expertise in the field.

"Kohila" should be prescribed as a must on the Parliament daily menu to control the sudden anger of the MPs. Pesticides are a different issue : one might need that to control the pests in the parliament.

K. Jean Cottam, PHD Saturday, 17 November 2012 05:52 PM
It is high time our parliamentarians educated themselves on the issue of pesticides. The chemical giants, such as Monsanto, are a menace to our health, especially to that of young children. Their self-serving studies are supposed to set the standard. Any independent study is usually branded by them as "junk science". Health Canada makes decisions about pesticides on the basis of data supplied by the chemical industry. In other words, it is not Parliament/Government but the chemical industry that truly impacts our health..
