Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said that the elections were by large free and fair and the results of the elections in the three provinces could be expected before 6 am on Sunday.

The first postal vote results are expected prior to 10 PM tonight and the first election result is to be expected before midnight today, the Commissioner said.

He said results of the preferential votes were expected prior to 6 pm on Sunday.

Deshapriya said that one death was reported and apart from that the elections in all three provinces were free and fair with no major incidents recorded.(HF)
