President pardons Hettiarchchi

President Mahinda Rajapaksa today pardoned rugby player Nuwan Hettiarachchi who was in Sri Lanka Navy custody for alleged desertion, President's media spokesman Bandula Jayasekara said.

Hettiarachchi was arrested by the Navy claiming that he is still an enrolled officer of the Navy although he decided to switch to Kandy Sports Club for this season.
