President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Japanese Embassy in Colombo a short while ago and signed a condolence book for victims of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan.
The President also held discussions with the Japanese Ambassador Kunio Takahashi about the current situation in Japan.
President Rajapaksa assured the Ambassador that the relief teams sent from Sri Lanka would be self-sufficient units which would be able to assist those in Japan to recover from the recent disaster. Further Ceylon Tea would be sent to the country with the relief teams, according to the President’s Spokesperson Bandula Jayasekera. (DS)
