British Foreign Secretary William Hague said that his country wants Sri Lanka to ‘do better on Human Rights, to investigate alleged abuses and war crimes in the past.
In an interview with Adam Boulton on Sky News yesterday, the Foreign Secretary said: “there were “difficult aspects to the relationship.”
“We want the Government of Sri Lanka to do better on human rights, to investigate alleged abuses and war crimes in the past. So we have a slightly difficult relationship with Sri Lanka in some ways, but we do meet them and talk to them. I met the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister when he came to London two months ago.”

I think this again an indication of UK's attitude on SL as a UK's colany ,,, and they still believe SL is under their preview,,, we could accept if this has been asked by an independent body say for an example UN although it is also western biased,,,the issue is this statement is coming from another country, who thinks still SL is their perview,,I would surprise unless the Gov of SL resond to this statement,,,

Dear DM why are you only publishing one sided comments. I have been trying to reply to the one sided accusations against the Tamil people while the atrocilties that were committed against the Tamil people never got told. Many Sinhala people never knew what the S/L armed forces were doing in the North and East in the name of security. They were killing innocent people left right and centre with total impunity. Not a single soldier was punished for the massacres of Kumuthini Boat, Mathahal bus masacre (in which my family got murderd), Nagar kovil school massacre.
These were innocent people yet the news never hit the national papers. Is DM condoning these actions? Is that why you are filtering my comments?

The problems is you can count how many bombs went off in Colombo but you never know how many went off in north and east you know why you simply can not count the whole 3 generation innocent people wiped out by srilankna forces

What the comments above do not reflect is that US, UK killed foreigners whereas Sri Lankans were bombed in Wanni. China can protect Sri Lanka in UN SC likewise those world powers can escape any such probes.

Mr Desilva, even if SL has killed LTTE Terrorist leaders who raised white flags we are clean in our minds because if they had lived to 'fight another day' there would be 1000s of dead innocent civilians. But according to 'international law' it is wrong!! That is a war crime. What is good or bad/crime or not are purely built based on law which is in turn based on culture/experiences of different countries. One country's good deed can be a crime in another. That is why we are afraid of investigations.

Of course you are referring to the dozens and hundreds hacked in villages and bombed in cities routinely by LTTE, yes? Killing its own people and causing immeasurable damage to property to one's own motherland, that gave free education and milk, right? Yes, I agree, in some ways worse than Israel.

If we have nothing to do with the killings and our troops were following the international rules to fight a war why are you afraid to let anyone to come and do impartial investigation that would clear our name. Or are you trying to hide some thing from the rest of the world?? Can you tell me who killed houndred of soldiers and buried in Wanni. Did you kill your own soldiers fearing they belongs to the other camp?? Can you be honest and come out clean.

This man William Hague is dancing to the tune of the British Tamil Forum, as every knows are the LTTE and their supporters. He is very pally with them because pathetically some members of Parliament, Tories in Hague's case, Labour and Liberal, are begging the votes of the large Tamil population who live here! Human rights violations in Iraq and Afghanistan committed by the Allied Forces are blown to the wind. What a double dealing hypocrite this man Hague is!

What about the 400+ police officers that the LTTE lined up and shot in Batticaloa after they surrendered? LTTE sure didn't honor any human rights then... The IGP at the time ordered those police officers to surrender so that their lives can be spared but the LTTE killed them in cold blood... What about their human rights? What were you doing then Britain? You're so upset over the deaths of terrorist leaders who have been violating the rights of average Sri Lankans for decades... Or is it because we cannot elect you in to parliament that we are insignificant to you??? All those civilians who died in suicide attacks are not important? Their rights don't matter? Double faced hypocrites the whole lot of you!!!

This only shows how deeply divided we are. I don't see anyone reaching out to the other side. Even though we are one nation on paper, we have already divided our country. Makes me wonder who the real patriots and who the real traitors are.

US did drop not one but two atom bombs. They used napalm in Vietnam, used captured combatants for experiments , dropped cluster bombs in Iraq, Afghanistan. Still kills dozens of civilians in drone attacks.
Where are the UN commissions of inquiry for these? Let's start with the atom bombs shall we.

Mr. N.K.Ratnama, the many thousands who dies in attacks by suicide bombers in Colombo, Kandy, Anuradhapura and so many other places were equally innocent. This whole thing was started by Prabakaran when he shot Durayappa in 1976, followed by the shooting of Bastianpillai and then by the soldiers.

Wilee is descending from a nation that does not have any kind of "WILI"... So this statement is not a surprise. They lived on our resources since 1815. Killed and tried to demolish the Sinhala nation (Then Sri Lankans) by root. Stole our gold, raped our women.. Now suddenly they are talking about some HR. What a joke. Brithish owe to us in Trillions of Dollars... How about repaying them to build our country? That's only if they really value HR.. (Please publish this)

How many people dead because of this LTTE terrorism Why do you think only tamils. Don't support terrorism. It's shamed to tell UK ruled our country. Hey man, what about the War crimes that Israel has been committing on a daily basis for more than SIX DECADES on a DAILY basis right in front of your nose?
The Israelis use planes, artillery, tanks, WMDS, to kill and maim Palestinians, to destroy the homes and crops, hospitals and buildings at will.
Why they have even imposed a BLOCKADE against Gaza preventing food and essentials from reaching more than a million and a half people for more than 2 years literally starving them.
As if that is not enough, they attacked and killed 9 people on a vessel on a humanitarian mission carrying essential items to the starving people just a few months ago.
Hague, how come you can't see all the outrageous atrocities committed by the Israelis? Have you ever called the Israelis to account for the tens of thousands of their war crimes?
