RW- is the man to watch. He is prudent and sensible in his actions and leadership. His character assignation and how he handle the situation proved that he is the right leader to Lead United National Party to the next victory and the President 2014.. Now is the time to wait and see who he is. He is a leader who delegate roles to preform. Now the reforms will be on motion.

With the introduction of the old "past the post" election procedure, definitely the UNP will be relegated to the 3rd position at the next election under the leadership of RW!

When Ranil was elected another six years is good for Govt.and as far as RW is in opposition, MR has no dfificult in political life. I think RW is also minister without portfolio under the shadow MR's cabinet. RW and MR both are best friends. We have heard that in politics, your enemy's enemy is your friend.

RW- is a intellectual Global leader. Not a gangster and hypocrite. 2013 budget is made to whoes benift? Is it to the common mans good or to his sons? Who's supporting the LTTE today? all the privileges are given to LTTE why? where are the asset of LTTE? who is enjoying all that asset/wealth with the help of KP. Today KP do not have a single case to answer even when India request from SL, as per the HE the President. Man who is wise will understand RW.. I rest my case and points to ponder

Security provided for the convention that attended just 5000 selected members suggest some complicity because this is not the ruling party convention that is attended by President and cabinet ministers. For Rajapakse, Ranil is the easiest candidate to beat.

Ranil will only get to win party elections through his handpicked henchmen. At general or presidential elections, I'm sure he won't even pass 25% of the total votes polled.

Why do you blame Ranil or the leader.
1st the grass route level and so called MPs must work hard in their areas then you can expect a victory.
Just do not slang mud like some TV chennals who looks for cheap publicity and work according to some others agenda.
Ranil is a good leader, well respected internationally and experienced in politics.
Can you compare Sajith or Karu, who works for their own agenda as Mr. Pramadasa. who broke UNP in 1988 and now same with another.
Think and work hard to win 2014 without just barking like dogs.

Yes, you got votes from the UNP members whom you selectively invited. You can not do this at the general election elections or presidential election. The grass root supported does not go to the polling booth as long as you are the leader of the UNP. Full stop.

...and by that logic the current GoSL is very honest, democratic, people friendly etc, etc. You must be on of those hand-picked RW pawns. Sri Lankans really are delusional. We see a very clear pattern. 280,000 votes for WW, 150,000 votes for MS, 230,000 votes for RW even Upeksha Swarnamali got 80,000 votes the last GE. Sri Lankans really are delusional regardless of their political affiliations. Certainly the "MIRACLE OF ASIA"

Let it be known to Sajith, Karu, Dayasiri, and Buddhika that there are many more voices in the party other than their own. So it's high time they buckle down, fall in line, and work for the party under the largely accepted leadership. They got their chances at the leadership election, didn't they?

Shame on Ranil Wickremasinghe and Tissa Attanayake co. for deciding the leadership of party that consist nearly 5 million members by handful of selected henchmen who have no education or political knowledge at all. These are thugs brought by Mr.Muzammil and party leader. Shame...Shame. If youre are man enough you should have brought all the party supporters who acquire a membership and test your popularity. You know your standing within the grass-root supporters. I am sad for the party because I know the results of the future elections.

Anne Dave you must have at least a fraction of brain to think that without a leader for UNP how can others be expected to organize grass root level. This is a tyranny of suppression of democracy by UNP leader. Will you bet with me for One million Rs. that whatever next election UNP will get only less than 2.0 million votes. This is because UNP ers wont have any other option than refrain from voting for this despotic, idiotic leader. In other words today UNP left another land mark in history by stengthening government for another 6 years. Today people of Sri Lanka lost the opposition. Curse will come and divine power will save people
