Rs 2.5 million reward has been put in place for any person who gives information that leads to the arrests of the armed gang that robbed a vehicle carrying Rs. 70 million to a private bank when the vehicle was passing through Peliyagoda, police spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online.

On Friday morning an armed gang robbed a bank vehicle at gunpoint which was transporting cash to be deposited in bank teller machines. Six persons in bikes with weapons had stopped the vehicle in Thelangapatha, Peliyagoda and robbed the cash as well as the weapons of the security persons.
Five special police teams have been appointed to look in to the robbery according to the instructions of the IGP Mahinda Balasuriya. (Daily Mirror online)
