Rs. 40mln loss due to UPFA rally-JVP

The JVP today alleged that the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) had incurred a loss of Rs. 40 million due to providing buses to the UPFA May Day rally.

JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva told a news conference today that SLTB buses had been give on hire on a much lesser than the usual fee of Rs 65 per kilo meter. “Malpractices such as these have made SLTB a loss making entity,” he said charging that there are no funds in some deports to pay salaries to the employees.

The JVP further called on the government to suspend the bus fare hike and take steps to stop frauds such as reselling of Colombo- Jaffna route permits. “Persons who bought the route permits for Rs. 400,000 had sold them for Rs. 1.1 million,” the JVP said. (Yohan Perera)

Do people who burnt and destroyed so many CTB busses not so long ago to gain their political objectives, have the right to talk about the losses in CTB? Yes, we agree that using public property to gain political objectives is absolutely wrong!

Boss need to see thousands heads at the audience, the poor CTB spending that sin not now but from the begin which stabilized for the public. CTB same as the people of Lanka facing 60 years miserable life of the country

Well said. Can anybody publish a list of public prooperty distroyed by JVP? This could include no of CTB buses, No of stations & trains, No of post / agrarian / banking / GA offices etc....And ofcoz the no of confiscated National IDs too.

This was started in the 60s during the Bandaranayake regime. The government used the whole fleet for propaganda activities. During this period there was no private buses and the poor masses had to wait for hours without a bus. Nothing has changed since then. In Sri Lanka no politician thinks of the country. They only think of their short term benefits. The culture of a third world country.
