UNP cannot win the rural vote base unless they change their policy towards open economy. The current leader who do not know about the pulse of rural people must allow capable person to lead the party. If these are not met UNP will never win an election.

karu is a gentleman,without a taint of corruption he commands a great deal of respect amongst the population of the country i belive he is the only person capable of uniting the party now...but ranil being ranil and being absolutely selfish would not make way for anybody for the betterment of the party

Really...??? The UNP has been acting as if its vote base was Colombo 7 Royal College based.

This is the difference between JR and Ranil. JR recognised where his voters were and did the Mahaweli, Mahapola, Gam Udawa Schemes.

Margin of strata diferences shortning whether rural or urban though metropolitan still more biased to UNP compelling MR to think of an Authority for Colombo. First solve leadership crisis and make a strong and convincing claim of the green own policies to win back the lost vote bank islandwide.
