Salaka owner released on bail



The owner of Salaka Gamini Neththikumara was today ordered to be released on bail after appearing before the Colombo Fort Magistrate regarding a case which had been filed against him on the charge of having cheated a private security firm of Rs.326,987.

A security manager attached to a private security company which had provided security service to the Salaka had complained to the Slave Island police that the respondent Salaka business had defaulted a payment of Rs.326,987 owed to the private security firm.

However, when the case was taken up before Magistrate Thilina Gamage, Defence counsel who appeared on behalf of Businessman Neththikumara told Court that due payments had been already paid back to the complainant party. He further submitted to Court that both parties in the case were willing to settle the matter.

Taking into consideration the facts, the Magistrate ordered that the businessman be released on a surety bail of Rs.100,000. Accordingly, both parties expressed their willingness to settle the case amicably.

Meanwhile, the Magistrate ordered the police to file a charge sheet against the businessman on July 21. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
