Parliamentarian Sanath Jayasuriya and three other MPs have requested President Mahinda Rajapaksa for ministerial portfolios in the government.
Sanath Muttuhettigama Weerasekera Lakshman
In a letter signed by Jayasuriya, Galle district MP Nishantha Muttuhettigama, Ampara district MP Sarath Weerasekera and Matale district MP Lakshman Wasantha Perera they said they have waited for a long period and it is time for them to get ministerial portfolios considering their performance and also considering the votes they obtained at the general election.
Accordingly, the President had promised them that he would consider their requests soon. Muttuhettigama told Daily Mirror online that they had handed over the letter to the President on Thursday.

This is no laughing matter. We are already maintaining a jumbo sized cabinet that accomplishes very little.

Dont you guys see !! This is completely a set-up by the big one to give a ministry to NR.
These MP's may have been asked to send this letter, they will be given ministries ( well anything ...) and NR will be included to the lot.

Ministers post should be give in the basis of who is specialized in which field.. who have studied economy shoud be given development side, who is good in finnance side given to deal with finance.. ministry post is not given because of the number of votes they obtain or the time they waited in the parliament. because giving ministry like that only our country is lacking in all abilities. president should understand this and give the post not for the votes.

See how they want to eat our money.
We strongly say reduce the number of ministers as the country is run by certain individuals, so we can have another piece of bread.

The man at fault is the President. He is the one who has set a culture of giving favors to otherwise useless people just because they have the capability to intimidate voters and steal their votes. We know what goes on in our backyards. If this country has law and order, and a disciplined police force that folow rules instead of being used as a tool by politicians, this sort of stupid culture does not arise. The man in charge is MR, and the blame lies squarely there.

If these people are working for the people of this country they should work without the ministrial job. Sadly they all want to make quick money. Did they know that we have the world highest number of ministers in the job.

I think this is not a problem of those 4 MPs. This is a problem of this system. More than that the in the first place blame should be gone to the idiots who selected these people as their parliament representatives. Former leaders like JR, Premadasa, Lalith, Gamini and even MR came a long ways starting from very low positions to the top gradually. These people want to be ministers within 1 night. We, fools have selected fools.

Sri Lanka has got the most uneducated politicians in the world. This has to change. In Australia even the taxi drivers are educated. We need to pass a resolution so that only educated people can go into politics.

Everyone want to become ministers. Among these Parliamentarians Nishantha Mutuhettigama, Lakshman Wasantha Perera, Sarath Weerasekara and Sanath Jayasuriya, how many MPs passed G.C.E. (A/L)? Why any lawer does not go to court , and get an order for MP's education qualification? My opinion MPs set should be reduce upto electrolial sets and minister post maxium 30. Sri Lanka is the only country has highest number of Ministers in the world. Please see India for a example.
