The leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) V. Anandasangaree would contest the Northern Provincial Council elections from the Tamil National Alliance, media spokesman of the TNA Suresh Premachandran said.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror online Premachandran said that the TULF which was a constituent party of the TNA would also field candidates at the upcoming elections.
“He is the leader of the party and he is also contesting with us,” he said.
The TNA have fielded former Supreme Court judge Justice C.V. Vigneswaran as their Chief Ministerial candidate.
Earlier Anandasangaree did not associate himself with the TNA even going to lengths of going to courts against the alliance using his party symbol due to his disagreement with “TNA’s pro LTTE stance”.
His party suffered after it split in two due to the disagreement.
Thereafter, Anadasangaree contested on a newly formed alliance for the Municipal Council elections in Jaffna and the Democratic Tamil National Alliance winning a seat in the Jaffna Municipal Council before patching up with the TNA.
