Six media personnel including a producer of a private TV station were injured after the van they were traveling collided head on with another vehicle in Galewela on Saturday night, police said .

The injured media men were traveling back to Colombo from Jaffna after completing an assignment in Jaffna.

The driver of the vehicle they were traveling had reportedly fallen asleep and collided head on with another vehicle and then gone off the road and stopped after smashing into a telephone post.

The injured persons were rushed to the Galewela hospital by the residents in the area. The police are conducting further investigations into the accident. (Mohamad Baharuddin)
