Discussions were held between Sri Lanka and Poland on transferring technology, training and intelligence sharing which would benefit both countries, the Sri Lankan government said.
The discussion was held between visiting Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Polish Minister of National Defense Tomasz Siemoniak in Warsaw, Poland, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Poland said in a statement.
Mr. Rajapaksa had visited Poland at the invitation of the Minister of National Defense Tomasz Siemoniak to attend the 20th International Defense Industry Exhibition (MPSO) held in Kielce from 3rd - 6th September. The exhibition was inaugurated by President of Poland Boruslaw Komorowski on 3rd of September amidst a large gathering of invitees who had dealings with the defence industry worldwide.
During his visit Defense Secretary Rajapaksa had a number of meetings with key personnel of the Polish Government as well as the defence industry who were attending the event. He also had an opportunity of meeting informally with President Komorowski as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslav Sikorski during the lunch hosted for the invitees by the President of the exhibition Andrzej Mochon.
While speaking with the Secretary, Minister Sikorski inquired whether the LTTE had been completely wiped out in Sri Lanka. Secretary Rajapaksa gave him a brief account of the defeat of the LTTE and the present situation.
