SL asylum seeker attempts to suicide

A Sri Lankan Asylum seeker at the Curtin detention centre in Australia was rescued by the staff members of the centre, when he tried to kill himself, the Western Australian news agency reported.

The Australian Immigration Department said that the latest attempt was reported, just 24 hours after the suicide of an Afghan asylum seeker at the Curtin camp.

The Sri Lankan man was spotted walking into a garden in the early hours of yesterday morning and was found hanging from a tree a short time later.
Centre staff were on the scene within moments and cut down the detainee. He had minor injuries and was taken to hospital for a check-up.
