Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) chairman, D. S. de Silva and secretary, Nishantha Ranatunga will be in India to meet the Indian cricket board officials tomorrow (22) and they will try to convince them to send few players' to participate in the forthcoming Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL), Sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said.
The minister said, "I have instructed the chairman and the secretary to rush to India and convince the Indian board officials to allow their players to play in our tournament".
"The chairman will be directly arriving from London, where he has been with the Sri Lanka team and Ranatunga will join him from Sri Lanka".
"We have good rapport with the Indian board and I am sure the issue will be sorted out amicably".
"The first edition of this tournament will go ahead as scheduled (July 19 to August 4, 2011). ", the minister insisted.
The minister also denied the roel of ex-BCCI official, Lalit Modi's hand in SLPL. "I can say with 100 % assertion there is no role of Lalit Modi in SLPL. I am unaware about his trip to this country, if he had made some two months ago".
Sandeep M. Bhammer, the Chairman of Somerset Entertainment Ventures (Singapore) Pte. Ltd, when approached for his comments, too insisted, "we are the marketing agents and the SLPL is being hosted by SLC". (Daily Mirror online)

Is this duo capable of negotiating with the Indians or will they end up making some other deals beneficial to BCCI. Our negotiators have always sold out to the Indians.

It's payback time for the BCCI for the attempts made by Sri Lanka's Minister of Sports to sabotage the IPL. You want to go to war with the BCCI? Welcome Colombo; let's see who will win

After all i dont see the necessity of such an event in SL. It is highly unlikely such an event succeed in SL. After world cup in 96 SLC got money and then corruption. Most importantly we should change the idiotic sports minister.

Why SLC don’t invite few players form China. If possible ask Chinese to build cricket ground in Jaffna. Then Indians will come here for begging.

We should be going to Islamic republic of Pakistan and telling them that coming here will hurt India's interests. This will make them very interested in Sri Lankan culture and religion. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are eternal friends. And we all know how much respect and regard the Taliban and Muslims in Pakistan have for Buddhism, Hindus, Christians and other kaffirs.

You must always know your place in the world, and keep your word. The SLC boys, and Minister, came on strong during the IPL fiasco. Now the shoe is on the other foot and they do not like it and have to go to India with their tails between their legs. Throw the bums out, the Minister included. Too many catchers in high places.
