Olympic silver medalist sprinter Susanthika Jayasinghe is willing to make a come back to the international circuit after Sri Lanka's performance in recent international competitions deteriorated.
She said that an announcement regarding the decision will be made, after consultations with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the new Minister of sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage. (Daminda Wijesuriya)

Good that Susi back in sports but should totally forget politics. I prey that she will not be another Sanath Jayasooriya. The courage and wish cannot do every thing. The main task of Susi should be to make a generation of junior Susies exceeding her skills.
One should not misuderstand that I have any intention of under estimating Senior Susi.

If Malron Otta can do it ,Why not Susssi. but the sad story is that veterans have to come back becoz we do not have a second string.
and dont seems to have a right future as well. talent is there but no support from the Government

If sri lankan standards have come down develop young ones to perform. Just because Susanthika comes back it will not improve - is she going to run forever. Very funny country this is. Do you mean to say Aussies are going down in cricket and Allan Border, Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor should come back from retirement.

Good on you Susanthika, if she is still passionate about the athletics, she should be welcomed.
I saw few comments written here and comparing with Sanath J. To accommodate Sanath, Sri Lanka cricket has to push a young able cricketer out from the squad. In her case there is no such thing. Welcome Susanthika

People mix cricket with athletics, this is an individual sport and will not affect the whole team. Run fast & win, no second innings or partnerships to blaming each other.

Just keep your pride flying with the medals you have earned already and do not try to tarnish your gained supremacy. If you still think that you should bring more pride to Mother Lanka it is upto you to decide. Because you know your potentialities best. However, please also concentrate to become a loyal mother and wife as well.

Athletics is missing the likes of Susanthika, Darsha, Kulawansa etc. It is at its lowest ebb now. Need to uplift the standards once again. However, it will be a tough ask for Susanthika to bring back her glory days. Anyway, she could be an inspiration.

Jay - get real. For some reason there is a characteristic amongst some people here to re-live past glories without being reliastic. Such people just can't let go and its a psycholigical problem that needds addressing. People like you who egg them on to further embarassment should remember that a whole nation will be embarassed as a result.
