There is no necessity for the Sri Lankan government to stage its displeasure to the Tamil Nadu government over the recent ordeal faced by Minister Reginald Cooray. Minister Cooray said that the Indian state government had provided him adequate security from the time the news of a planned protest against him was uncovered and had taken all necessary measures to ensure his safety.
Minister Cooray told journalists that he could always go back to Tamil Nadu as no one had ordered him out of the state and banned him from going there once again.
He said the Tamil Nadu police only informed him about the planned protest and assured him that they would do their utmost to protect him and the delegation in any circumstances. However, the Minister said he decided to return to Sri Lanka as precautionary measure.
