Nothing to worry, majority of the people in the country who are called "patriots" are ready to cook and eat their meals without these "dressings" such as onions, potatoe and garlic. After all, it is good for the health of the nation as well. There were times when these supporters even went round the streets shouting they will drink tea without sugar and eat curries without chillies!

Now that the elections are over and expecting yet another election.
The secret behind this is to bring down this prices when closer to the CMC election. So they can say that they are 'people's friendly' government and that was why the taxes were removed

Import taxes are usually increased when the local harvesting season is ready.. so that people can buy local produce instead of the imported ones. If the local supply falls, and we have to import from outside to meet the demand, then they usually bring down the tax.

see, the problem here ryan, is that when the local producers' supply decreases for whatever reason (which seems to happen every few months), these taxes are never removed or reduced. this means that if the imported stuff is the only thing available in the market, we have to pay a tooth and a nail for the onions and the potatoes.

We'll have to do that in secret. Else they might impose a tax on that also.

Good decision in two ways; protect the local producer and reduce the waste which occur due to low prices in the market.
