Mahinda Rajapakse has shown time and again that he has no time for dissent. Either some one agrees with him or he is against him. All those who sincerely believed in MR and his promise of a better future now has to stomach the most undigestible truth. MR is no democrat. Demagogue - yes. Autocrat - yes. He is nothing but one of the those old Soviet style dictators who claimed to be "democratic socialists" while the masses were completely denied any democratic rights. Very soon there will be goons all over, evesdropping as to what people are saying so that dissent can be eliminated frrom the surface. We have no choice but to look to the West for support. India will not support us as they always have their own agenda "safely tucked in" regardless of what happens.

What is this two groups. Probable UNP & JVP who feels very lonely without General because their parties have become bankrupt without corhesive leaders. Let the General to prove inocence and settle the issue. How come this country is anarchy as mentioned by RAVANA just because the General has been detained for various issues?

Let justice be done; and in doing so, let it be done in a manner that the people will see that it (justice) is really being done.
It is not too late yet.

Why can't people let army to take over their actions? protests would only take this country back in time, like in those JVP days.
Things should be dealt with proper manner, e.g. Filling a FR petition is good.
Can't let anyone to create a mess in this country, otherwise no point in defeating the LTTE.

I still don't believe how some people justify government actions. Why can't you simply allow people to at least protest. I think as a nation we are blind to see future consequences of these developments. Are we protecting democracy or individuals as a nation?

I think the protests with violence will create a situation where Govt can again rig the election. Opposition should not resolve toward violence. Only non-violent protests can win against this Govt.
