TNA PS chairman arrested on fraud charge

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) chairman of Werugal Pradeshiya Sabha was arrested last evening on charges of fraud, police said.

He was arrested for producing a dud cheque of Rs. 500,000 to a lorry driver who undertook a contract to provide soil to build a playground for a school in the area last year.

The suspect was produced in the Muttur Magistrates Court yesterday and was released with two sureties of Rs.200, 000.

The Serunuwara police are conducting investigations.
