All this started just because the studends booed SB at Peradeniya. It is quite similar to SF contesting MR at the presidential election. Next steps will follow in due course.

Only those who live abroad or sent children abroad for studies know the value of "Free-Education". These opportunists don't understand that but using innocent students as Scape Goats to acheive their ends.

COMMENTERS: if you open your eye, you can clearly see there is an agenda going against university students. This is only one stage. Goverment is going to shut up every mouth which open against it. I am a MR fan. But I am sad what he and his SB is doing.
54 30
pandula Friday, 29 October 2010 07:58 AM
I think most commenters are moulded by GOV media and never being to SL university. At least because of IUSF we got many facilities for our education system because if they are not demanding no one will give you. But the present trend is to reduce the voice of student to destroy the education system. So please school childeren must come forward to protect their brothers because their mind havent blinded with politics.

This is the stategy, dear.. Make a noise and get those trouble makers to the net. The strategy is correct and few thousands have to pay for majority of millions. The humble Ministers could not do in the past and the Spade will do it now. Later we can clear the spade just like SF. Use a proper tool for the job, dear! Wait and see few months.

This is the way to cut down free education.Govt is trying to destroy the universities and privatize them through giving a bad picture to the public. Nobody can open their mouths to protect the free education. This is the result if someone open his/her mouth against it.

The Country will NEVER NEVER forget the extrajudicial killings of the YOUTH of the country perpetrated by the despicable JVP. Perhaps the country should rethink the whole question of Free Education. It appears nothing given free is appreciated !! The Police have made a good start. All JVP activists who cause problems should be rounded up and due process of the law enforced.

Ruwan Ferdinandez Friday, 29 October 2010 08:44 AM
Did you enjoy free education? If did, do you now appreciate what you had? No, that's something we should talk about. If you didn't have free education from Sri Lanka.,your points are not valid. JVP is a rubbish pile and please don't mix up JVP and free education.

I am too a graduate & a postgraduate. I know very well if not for IUSF our free education (which millions of poor people benifit presently) is long gone as there were continues attempts to privatize it by many means under successive governments.

It's not meant to have everything free... You guys are wasting our tax money. Politics should be banned from universities. Please let our bright children to study without any disruptions.

No wonder decent people who can afford the money sent their children to overseas/private Unis. You are spot on Dr. this is the downside of free education. Earlier days at the Unis. students were taught social etiquette, manners, how to converse in English, how to handle fork and spoon. When all those socialists entered the Unis, those programmes were stopped because they r supposed to be western culture.
