Udul treated shabbily - IUSF

The Inter-University Student Federation (IUSF) charged today that the IUSF Convener, Udul Premaratne who is currently detained at the Welikada prison is being treated far poorly than other prisoners convicted for more serious crimes.

IUSF Acting Spokesman, Sanjeewa Bandara who paid a visit to Premaratne said that he is only allowed half an hour to go out-doors and has been detained in a single person’s cell.

“Usually prisoners are detained together unless they are convicted for serious crimes such as murder. However Udul who has not done anything seriously wrong and who has played an important role in attempting to eliminate student suppression and continuously encouraged free education has been detained in this unacceptable manner,” Bandara said.
