The UNP charged today that two notorious deputy ministers had threatened the Mahanayakes of the four chapters not to conduct the special ‘Mahasanga Convention’ at the Sri Dalanda Maligawa Temple in Kandy.
The prelates announced yesterday that they decided to postpone the Convention due to security concerns of Buddhist monks and devotees who are expected to assemble at Mahamaluwa of Sri Dalanda Maligawa for this purpose.
Commenting on the Mahanayakes’ move, UNP MP Tissa Attanayake told reporters today that a government delegation accompanied by a Buddhist monk had called on the Mahanayakes and threatened them not to go ahead with this convention. (KB)

Regret to note that UNP, once a well-respected & resourceful party has now dropped to the level of minor parties who live on lies, fabrications & day-to-day trivial matters.
UNP has to regain its old glory and refocus it policies on vital national issues. Time to shed the parasites parties and stride forward boldly & majestically.

A democracy which makes or even effectively prepares for modern, scientific war must necessarily cease to be democratic. No country can be really well prepared for modern war unless it is governed by a tyrant, at the head of a highly trained and perfectly obedient bureaucracy. ALDOUS HUXLEY
