This time the common candidate should be the one who gets alienated minority votes too.It is unlikely minorities will vote incumbent and so Ranil may be best choice as he can get all but 28% of the national voters from minorities alone.

Ranil is better in a way as he never abandoned the ship.A gentleman and a person nothing to do with corruption.Maithree waited till now to talk about corruption and abuse of power with the same government serving as a senior minister. So if all cross over then who is to be blamed for corruption. And why did he keep mum on all these abuses for last ten years?I wonder how naive the people are to think that all these politicians are good and not corrupted forgetting that they after perks and power.Once they feel that their party could be defeated they cross over to keep their posts and perks under a new government and cheat people by saying " we crossed over because we want to serve people".Simply pathetic!

Common candidate should be from UNP and that is Karu who should be.He is the most suitable and acres listing choiceHe will fill the short term assignment to effect changes to the constitution including reinstatement of 17th amendmentand depart honourably when these are achieved.any others may not do so and may continue with the existing constitution and the innocent public played out again.

Maithree is the best choice. He would abolish executive presidency. Good government will setup with Ranil.

Common candidate means guaranteed winning streak. You go along means once again confirmed defeat beside end of your political carrier Mr.Ranil Wickramasinghe. Think wise before comment!

Remember Karu was part of the Pakse Regime. When he noticed he was sidelined, he jumped back into UNP. Therefore this guy has no ethics or principles. Ranil is a gentlemen and one of the greatest foxes. If he had been in power instead of MR, today Praba would be exiled (similar to Idi Amin), war crimes would not have taken place thus no UN investigation and the Tamil problem would have been amicably settled according to international standards.

Karu is not reliable at all. He gave MR regime the votes to enjoy two third. MR sent him back to disrupt the UNP
