Keeping mum about an alliance with a faction of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) or any other party, the United National Party (UNP) said today the country would be able to see the party's strategy before the close of nominations on July 13.
“The country will know of our strategy for the general elections by July 13 when nominations end,” Media Minister Gayanatha Karunatilleke said when responding to journalists at a media briefing on whether the UNP will form an alliance with the a faction of the SLFP or with another party. However, Mr. Karunatillke did not rule out any of the many possibilities.
At the same time Mr. Karunatillke said the position held by the majority of peopled today is that President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should not distance themselves from each other.(Yohan Perera & Darshana Sanjeewa)
