UNP wants Range and Asoka back

Whilst UNP MPs Palitha Range Bandara and Asoka Abeysinghe are planning to file separate lists for the North Western Provincial Council, attempts are being made to woo them back into the party fold, informed source said.

Daily Mirror learns that the UNP has invited Range Bandara and beysinghe for a discussion with Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe this week. It is believed that the pair will meet Mr. Wickremesinghe on Tuesday.

This development comes despite plans by Mr. Bandara, Mr. Abeysinghe to field a separate list of candidates for the North Western Provincial Council elections. It was reported that the party had offered to remove the suspension of the two MPs from the party if they patch up their differences with the party.
It is also learnt that both MPs had wanted their organiser posts restored if they return to party. Both Mr. Range Bandara and Mr. Abeysinghe when contacted by Daily Mirror confirmed that they had received requests by the party to return to the fold.
