[Under International Law, cases can be filed on the offences under war crimes, genocide, crimes against humanity and waging war against countries without reasonable cause.]
In that case, why not the same law has not been applied to USA, UK Presidents, Prime Ministers for waging war against Iraq, Afghanistan, and attacking Libya.
116 97
LIMA Saturday, 18 June 2011 03:44 AM
for the sake of filing u cannot file cases like that , then u shud file cases against george bush , tony blair , etc for the killings took place and still taking place in iraq , afghan , pakistan , palestine , if u find that these two should be punished many times.

gayan j. Saturday, 18 June 2011 03:55 AM
Yes MR, ignore this as well, like you did with all the allegations (instead of holding a proper inquiry). This will encourage the diaspora in canada and europe to follow the same path, in another few years you will have no place other than China and Russia to visit.
Yes thumb me down, but this is the truth if we keep playing as deaf and invisible instead of doing something to counter act this in a proper "accountable" way.

Menike Saturday, 18 June 2011 03:56 AM
Nothing will happen on this matter; MR will enjoy extra protection and hospitality in the U.S. That's how politics work. At the very top level, the common man can only bark up a storm, but the top politicians will rub each others' back and sip wine.
I feel sad for the victims, but if it's war, which the LTTE wanted, there will be victims - there is no way to avoid victims in war, and sometimes even in love..

No need to respond to these. Sri Lanka is a sovereign state. Otherwise we could simply file a case against US president in local courts for all the deaths due to their war in middle east (as to see if anybody cares).

I don't see the logic of these actions. This is not going to benefit any Tamil in Sri Lanka. It will only make Sri Lankans rally around MR more and more and make any chance of a solution further and further away. The diaspora is doing exactly what MR wants to increase his popularity in the eve of an election. The timing couldn't be better.

First time a Sri Lankan President has been issued summons.
In the past Sri Lankan Presidents were invited to address the Senators in America . Today the situation is different. Why?

If there is any problem, he can send either Dr. Mervyn or Duminda as they are the heroes in Sri Lanka, to wipe out the threats as they did by going beyond Anuradhapura before May 2009.
9 112
I Hussein Saturday, 18 June 2011 05:25 AM
This was inevitable in any case.
GOSL didn't handle this matter seriously at all. This could have been avoided had MR had intelligent people around him, maybe he got the largest team of advisers in the world but 9 out 10 are fools. Pleasing the gallery is one thing but dealing with international arena is another.
What the rulers don't realize is that the patriotic fake lion talks at home is good to please the dumb supporters but that will come back to you like a boomerang too.
6 141
I Hussein Saturday, 18 June 2011 05:30 AM
NO it doesnt work like that. Its like this, if you are UPFA supporter law is nothing for you. You do anything and get away, similarly when its come to international matters whatever US does is right.
eg. Gen is behind the bars without any case and US went to war with Iraq without security council approval. But both cases were justified by themselves.

Lokaya Saturday, 18 June 2011 05:35 AM
The LTTE rump was snubbed again by the support of China and Russia and Indian silence. They don't have anything to do other than file lawsuits left and right under their supporters own jurisdictions! Quite hilarious.
