The printing section of the Uthayan Tamil newspaper office in Jaffna has been set on fire by an unidentified armed group at around 5 am today, sources said.
Accordingly, three armed men first threatened the security guard of the office and later opened fire at the computers as well as the printing machines, before set on fire them.
Few weeks ago an unidentified group attacked the Kilinochchi office of the Uthayan newspapers injuring at least three persons and damaging a van.

One could also say it was stupid of the gov to
1impeach the CJ when so much international attention was on Sri Lanka at the Human Rights Council
2 allow the hate campaign against Muslims to continue unchecked when only muslim countries support SL internationally
3 let Ministers run amok by threatening to break ppl's legs and tie them to trees on national tv
But that didn't stop them from doing any of those things now did it?

This is only a small tiny printing press. But when sprawling military camps attacked and set on fire or villages hacked to death innumerable times - the world look the other way. Why all this double standard?

The US has called for concrete action against those responsible for a series of attacks on Sri Lankan journalists and media institutions.
US Ambassador Michele J Sisson, during a meeting with the Foreign Correspondents Association in Colombo last week said that there had been very little progress in the investigations into assaults on the Sri Lankan media.
Attacks against journalists continue to this day and the suspects are rarely apprehended. In the few cases where there had been some arrests, they are almost never convicted, she said.
