Vass Gunawardena granted bail

Former DIG Vass Gunawardena and four other accused, who were in remand custody for allegedly killing businessman Mohamed Shiyam, were granted bail today by the High Court.

The accused were released on a cash bail of Rs. 500,000 with a surety of Rs.1 million each.(LS)

In commonwealth and in developed countries bail is not granted to murder suspects.we must now look at amending the penal code.a murder suspect must remain in remand custody until the trial was over...

At last law in Sri Lanka prevails. But according to ASP Shani Abeysekara, Vass has a armoury of weapons and this case has been filed under terrorism act. Vass has arrested two LTTE leaders, intelligent regarding Dalada maligawa attack passed on to authorities. Arrested LTTE carder with SAM missile, arrested LTTE carder who blew up Dehiwala train etc. Clearly this weapons case is framed by ASP. This is ASP framed Kotakethana three as well.
