Vass named key suspect in student assault case

Former DIG Vass Gunawardene has been named as one of the key suspects in the Malabe campus student assault case.

CID officials today informed the Kaduwela Magistrate that the Attorney General has named Gunawardane in the case.

Meanwhile, when MrGunawardane was produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court this evening in connection with the killing of businessman Shayam, the Magistrate directed that Gunawardane be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate tomorrow.
