Chief Incumbent of Kotte Nagaviharaya Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha thera today said he is prepared to go to prison even with 100 monks in place of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.
Vowing to rally public support against what he called the ‘most ungrateful act’ in the recent Sri Lankan history Ven. Sobhitha thera said he would go to any extent to get the former Commander, who united the country, released from the prison.

True, SF may have made some mistakes in his choices, but putting him in prison was a huge mistake.

It is regret to say that majority of our Religious Leaders have become deaf & blind before MR despite such a inhuman and disgraceful act.Only you have the guts to come forward on behalf of SF that remind us the bravery of the religious leaders who fought against imperialism. Our history has lot of examples of Buddhist priesthood who scarified everything for the sake of the country. Hon.Thera, you had the backbone to fight against the injustice of every leader since the era of JR to date. We are grateful to our Ven. Thera.Bless you long live.

Be very carefull in this situation. The person who first backed SF without any fear was Ven Malwathe Mahanayake Thera. No one else. He still continues to do so and he even got the support of other Mahanayake's support as well. Now there is a news item fabricated by MR supporters to split the Sanga stating that RW has said that only Ven Sobitha came forward to support SF. It is true that Ven Sobitha Thera too was a supporter of the cause. But this is a split created by a spin doctor so that he can dilute the fight for SF by creating a rift between Mahanayakes and Ven Sobitha Thera. So do not get caught to this trick. My view is that Ven Sobitha Thera should join Ven Mahanayakes and a fight together.

It sad to see cheap politics in a recognized Buddhist leader. I simply can't understand as to why some media is struggling to give unwanted publicity for the rescue of an accused.
