Commonwealth games gold medalist Chinthana Vidanage has tested positive for a banned substance at the Asian Weightlifting Championship being held in China.

Vidanage’s urine sample tested positive during a routine banned substance test, the Sports Medical Unit said. (Asanga Gammanpila )

Very sad news.... What are the NOC / Sports ministry officials doing? They seem to be just there to enjoy the perks which come with the job rather than actually "doing" the said job!! With the London 2012 games looming, this is a big blow to Sri Lanka!!! Athletes, Trainers/Coaches and Officials should be held criminally accountable if accusations such as these are proven beyond a reasonable doubt!!! Modern athletes can not claim "accidental consumption" of banned substances.... They and their coaches should know better!!

they are there to make sure athletes dont take such substances.

in the defense of the athletes their are 4000 banned substances some as common as cough syrups so the official should take control of what these athletes take
