The Janatha Vimukthi Peramauna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva today denied reports that he and two other senior members of the party had decided to resign from the JVP to join with its former leader Somawansa Amarasinghe.
Mr. Silva told a media briefing that interested parties were engaged in spreading false stories that he himself had decided to follow Mr. Amarasinghe.
“No one including myself or comrades Bimal Ratnayake or K. D. Lal Kantha would join Mr. Amarasinghe at any point,” he said.
Mr. Ratnayake was also present at the media briefing with Mr. Silva.
He also said that his party would file legal action against groups which they had identified to be engaged in a programme of getting the media to publish false information with regard to the defection of Amarasinghe.
He said he had spoken to Mr. Amarainsghe over the phone and was confident that the former leader would be back in the fold.(YP & DS)

There are number of corrupt groups who are keen to split and destroy JVP, which is getting stronger and their existence is a hindrance to many third grade politicians.
