Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera, who is the spearhead of National Council for Clean Tomorrow (NCCT) today called for a formation of new government before Parliamentary elections to pass the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
Rathana Thera said the United National Party (UNP) kept urging the dissolution of Parliament and it appeared the UNP led government was not willing to further function as the government or keen on passing the 20A.
“UNP’s calls for house dissolution mean that they can’t retain in power. The current government was appointed to fulfil a set of promises including the 20A. Now, the UNP is keen on house dissolution instead of 20A. Therefore, a new government should be formed right away to pass the 20A and to deliver the promises given during the Presidential Election,” the Thera told a news conference.(Darshana Sanjeewa and Lahiru Pothmulla)

What is needed now is to go for a general election. This is not the time for party politics and that by a party that has NO power base at electoral level. All these people with vested interestsshould realise one thing that is there are only two major parties in SL that is the UNP and the SLFP.

Rathan thero is also one who cannot be trusted. He will even stab MS in the back. He had talks with Basil and Chamal. what for? Mr. President the people voted for you to change the bad into good and not listen to demands made by each and every Ding Dong.

Finally the JHU is realising the gridlock Sri Lanka is in, because of a minority Government. As a Buddhist monk Ven Rathana Thero must know the importance of respecting the wishes of the people and ensure that the Government that was elected by the people, but pushed to the opposition by an authoritarian President, is put back in power till the next elections, and restore the gratitude due to the nations that helped the country in troubled times, who seem to have now been antagonised and sidelined.

This is not something new treading but carefully orchestrated conspiracy perhaps hatched soon after the January 8 elections. Rather unfortunate, UNP seems to have trapped by all corners. The people who have sided with MS wanted only to remove MR as a person. They used UNP as a curry leave. Now their job is done. RW should understand at least now that UNP cannot co-exist with Rajitha , Champika and JHU. At least JVP is much better since they do not conspire behind the scene. MS and his clan still fear of dissolving the house. Your fear will be permanent.

Thank you so much HAMUDURUWANE. The UNP does not wants to fulfilled those promises and they are in test of money making. Therefore, they want consolidate that without any disturbances. What they did is creating Police Junta (bunch who have with bad smelling past) and holding the progress of country and loot as much as possible. Please form a new government and deliver the promised items at Presidential Election.

Yes a new govt is essential as the opposition is blocking everything. They watered down the 19A to allow crossovers and to have more MPs in the Constitutional Council than civil society persons. Both these not FOR THE POEPLE but purely for themselves. They are even blocking the CC to move ahead to get independent commissions now. They are rotters who need to be chased out.
