Ven. Watareka VijithaThera was arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division after he was discharged from the Colombo National Hospital today, police spokesman Ajith Rohana said.

The monk was reported to have been abducted and beaten and found trussed up at Bandaragama on June 19. He was admitted to the Panadura Hospital and later transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.

The Thero was remanded till July 2 when he was produced in the Panadura magistrate’s courts today.
